The ECB has recently raised interest rates several times.

On Thursday, the monetary watchdogs increased again, but not quite as strongly as before.

Frankfurt/Main - The European Central Bank (ECB) is fighting inflation with another interest rate hike.

The key interest rate in the euro area will rise by 0.5 percentage points to 2.5 percent, as announced by the ECB.

The monetary authorities had previously raised interest rates by 0.75 percentage points.

Only on Wednesday did the US Federal Reserve raise the key interest rate by 0.5 percentage points to between 4.25 and 4.5 percent.

However, the rate hike was smaller than after the central bank meetings in the previous months.
