His case remains mysterious - and even occupied the Federal Court of Justice.

After Srecko S. (62) was initially convicted of illegal possession of weapons in Munich, the BGH overturned the verdict.

Now the widower has to go back to court.

He is said to have murdered his wife (36).

Munich – Srecko S. (36) has to go back to court in Munich.

That was decided by the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe.

A few days ago, the top German judges overturned a judgment by the Munich I Regional Court: There the 62-year-old was sentenced to two years in prison earlier this year for illegal possession of weapons.

But now the case is being reopened.

Because: Srecko S. is said to have killed his wife Oranit S. († 36) with a shot in the head.

The exact circumstances have not yet been clarified.

According to the investigation, Srecko S. actually executed the woman.

Presumably she had to kneel down in front of him when he shot her.

However, this could not be proven in the first trial before the Munich I Regional Court.

Srecko S.'s defense attorneys at the time, Benjamin Stehle and Adam Ahmed, were able to avert a verdict of murder or manslaughter.

S. was convicted in Munich only for illegal possession of weapons.

However, the public prosecutor's office had requested an appeal against the verdict, and the Federal Court of Justice examined the case.

Result: "The verdict is overturned, the matter is referred back to another court chamber of the Munich Regional Court for a new hearing and decision," says a spokeswoman.

The process will not take place until next year.

It is undisputed that Oranit S. died from a shot in the head - her body was found in the house they shared on the outskirts of Munich.

Srecko S. denied the crime in court.

He claimed his wife tried to kill herself.

He himself had allegedly tried to snatch the gun from her.

But the fact is that his wife wanted to separate from him and shortly before the death he had seen messages on her cell phone that she had sent to another man.

Did he kill her in a fight?

The new trial at the Munich district court in 2023 has to show that first.

At the first attempt, the court saw great doubts about Srecko's version, but ultimately could not prove a homicide and ruled in favor of the accused.
