On icy sidewalk: Man slips and dies

The accident happened in the wintry city center of Murnau.

A Murnauer slipped and fell on an icy sidewalk in the city center.

A short time later he was dead.

Murnau – On Wednesday morning (December 14) there was a severe weather warning for the whole of southern Bavaria, better known as black ice.

The dangerous formation of black ice has already resulted in a number of serious accidents.

In Murnau, the weather conditions now triggered a particularly tragic accident.

A man died.

On icy sidewalk: Man slips and later dies in hospital

A 79-year-old was walking in downtown Murnau on Wednesday morning.

He slipped on a slightly sloping, icy section of Untermarkt and fell badly.

Murnauer remained unconscious on the sidewalk.

First responders started a resuscitation and called the rescue service and the emergency doctor at the same time.

The man was admitted to the Murnau accident clinic with ongoing resuscitation.

He died there around 12 noon.

Police and prosecutors are investigating the exact cause of death.

It must also be clarified whether there is a third-party fault, such as the obligation to scatter was neglected.
