Russian President Vladimir Putin described the West's actions against Russia as an "economic war," stressing that his country is being subjected to unprecedented aggression in order to crush its economy and the sanctions imposed against it have led at the same time to record numbers of inflation in European countries.
In a speech via video technology at the meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects today, Putin said: The West launched unprecedented aggressive sanctions against Russia, aimed in a short time and mainly to crush our economy by stealing our reserves of foreign currencies, and to collapse the national currency and cause devastating inflation.
Putin made it clear that the goals of the West were not achieved on the ground of reality that everyone sees, as Russian businessmen and authorities worked in a focused and professional manner, and citizens showed solidarity and responsibility, and thanks to the joint work of the government, the Russian Central Bank and citizens, the situation has stabilized.
Putin pointed out that the volume of Russian exports increased by 42 percent despite the sanctions during the past nine months, indicating that the shift to payment in rubles for gas is one of the main reasons that made it the strongest currency in the world in 2022.
The Russian President indicated that the federal budget surplus amounted to 560 billion rubles, equivalent to 8.6 billion dollars, and Russia’s budget will be implemented with a small deficit of about 2 percent of GDP, which is one of the best indicators in the Group of Twenty, stressing the maintenance of responsible financial and economic policies and loyalty. with social obligations.
The Russian President stressed that Moscow will not follow the path of self-isolation and self-sufficiency, but will raise interaction with its partners abroad to a good level, and will search for more promising partners than the European Union to redirect energy supplies and increase gas supplies to the East.
Putin pointed out that Russia will establish an electronic gas hub platform, and the price will be set for Europe in the coming months, describing the European Union's policies on gas prices as "crazy."
