Admittedly, one loses the overview at some point.
But in this case, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have clarified the full truth.
As ex-royals, they didn't want more privacy.
Because many media overshot the target, the statement is now available as a reminder.
MONTECITO — Meghan Markle, 41, and Prince Harry, 38, are back in the spotlight with the launch of their Netflix documentary, which premiered December 8.
They were not spared criticism either before or after the reality show was published.
Now the Sussexes are fed up with reading blatant nonsense about themselves.
Ashley Hansen, the couple's spokeswoman, told the New York Times: "The statement in which they announced their resignations does not say anything about privacy, but rather reaffirms their desire to continue to fulfill their role and public responsibilities. "
Meghan and Harry have never said they want more privacy
Hansen continues,
“Any claim to the contrary underscores a key point of the series.
They have chosen to share their story on their terms, and yet the tabloid media has created an absolutely false image that has dominated media reports and public opinion.
The evidence is right in front of you.” In fact, there is hardly anything easier to check and lo and behold: In your report at the time, there is not a word about the desire for more privacy.
The British press in particular had previously invented gaudy tabloid titles with fake news and had no good hair on any movement by the mother of two and the prince who lives in California.
Not infrequently, the articles dripped with sarcasm.
"Reclusive couple shares intimate secrets with eight billion people," headlined the Daily Star.
"Their statement announcing their decision to retire makes no mention of privacy and reaffirms their desire to continue their roles and public duties," the statement corrects the claim.

"Any suggestion to the contrary speaks to a central point of this series," reads further.
"They chose to share their story on their terms, and yet the tabloid media created a completely untrue narrative that permeates press coverage and public opinion."

Even if there are no final figures at half-time - the next three parts will be published on December 15th - the viewing figures for Netflix should be very pleasing.
There hasn't been a big bang so far, but fans and the media alike enjoy Meghan's anecdotes from the first meeting with Princess Kate (40) and Prince William (40).
