There is talk of a pioneering project and a milestone.

The Waakirchner municipal council voted unanimously for an open-space photovoltaic system in the district of Point.

Waakirchen - If all the authorities play along, a huge open-space photovoltaic (PV) system could be built on a meadow south of the Point district, and the community could move forward with further efforts in the district to come closer to energy self-sufficiency.

The municipal council is already fully behind the project, as was shown at the last meeting of this year on Monday evening, when the application by Waakirchner Josef Solleder was up for debate.

Mayor Norbert Kerkel (FWG) sent facts ahead: The one-hectare area is right next to the substation, which could enable electricity to be fed into the grid.

The meadow belongs to the applicant himself and has so far been designated as agricultural land.

"It would make a lot of sense to tackle the project now," said Kerkel, who reported that the district office had already given a positive signal.

"We would be a pioneer with that," says Kerkel.

Cornelia Riepe (Greens) promised support.

"I would be very happy if we were a pioneer in the district." However, she suggested that agricultural use of the modules should not be ruled out in the future.

"We should at least check that." She also demanded that farmers, for whom solar fields are a huge market, have to be informed.

This will be done by the district office in the new year, Kerkel knew.

Gisela Hölscher (FW) was also convinced: "That would be a milestone.

The sooner it's implemented, the better," she said.

Christine Weindl (CSU), who was also enthusiastic about Solleder's pioneering role, even announced that she would also consider a project.

Günther Jeske finally announced approval on behalf of the entire FWG parliamentary group,

For example, 1720 modules are planned, which will generate an estimated annual yield of one million kilowatt hours (kWh).

250 four-person households or 1000 citizens could be supplied, informed Solleder, who is also the founder and chairman of the Waakirchner energy cooperative.

In order to ensure the snow slide, the modules should have an angle of inclination of 30 degrees.

According to the applicant, there is nothing to be said for grazing or management under the modules.

Mowing could take place twice a year, from July at the earliest.

Solleder thanked for the positive signal.

"I am pleased that such projects have now arrived in the mainstream of society."

Solar park near Point: Land use planning is started

A first step was taken with the unanimous decision to start the building management process and to initiate changes to the land use plan.

He now wants to pull out all the stops to ensure that the authorities approve it as quickly as possible, Sollleder said afterwards.
