A group of 40 people close to the ultra-right, who were preparing to join the Champs-Elysées in Paris after the semi-final of the World Cup won by France against Morocco, were arrested, in particular for wearing a Prohibited weapons, we learned Wednesday evening December 15 from a police source.
The group was arrested in the 17th arrondissement of the capital during a check for
"grouping with a view to committing violence"
and carrying prohibited weapons, the same source explained, noting that several of the members of this group were known to the police for belonging to a movement close to the ultra-right.
"They clearly wanted to fight it out on the Champs
," added a police source.

It was argued, from the same source, that these arrests had been made possible thanks to the control and prevention system put in place around the Champs-Elysées.
Some 2,200 police and gendarmes were mobilized in Paris on Wednesday evening to supervise the festivities following the France-Morocco match won (2-0) by the Blues.
A total of 115 arrests took place in the Paris area, including 101 in Paris, after this semi-final of the World Cup, said the police headquarters, Thursday shortly before 1 a.m.
