At the meeting of the Erding-Ost water association, the discussion about "red areas" was a topic.

In addition, the water price per cubic meter is currently below the Bavarian average.

Mauggen

- "Our water values are almost perfect." Even if this topic, the current discussion about so-called "red areas" (we reported), only came up at the end of the meeting of the Erding-Ost Water Association (ZWV), that's how it was most important.

After all, at the meeting in Mauggen, chairman Lorenz Angermaier and managing director Thomas Grögler were able to reassure the association councils: "The nitrate values of our wells are okay, even if they are close to the allegedly critical area."

The councils also found the business plan for the 2023 financial year to be in order. This concludes in the success plan with 920,600 euros in income and expenses, the total in the assets plan is 245,000 euros, loans are not fixed.

Both plans are therefore somewhat higher than this year (successful plan 900,600 euros, asset plan 142,100 euros).

In terms of income for the coming year, the association expects around 820,000 euros from water sales.

In terms of expenses, the main items are personnel expenses at around 590,000 euros, operating expenses at around 238,000 euros (120,000 euros for operating electricity alone) and the purchase of materials at 70,000 euros.

The income in the asset plan results primarily from production contributions (130,000 euros), withdrawals from reserves (around 105,000 euros) and an annual profit of around 10,000 euros.

On the expenditure side, there are new distribution systems in the supply area (130,000 euros), operational systems and equipment (almost 100,000 euros) and the repayment of current loans, for example for the new waterworks in Eibach (18,000 euros).

At the end of 2021, the association in its area of Bockhorn, parts of Lengdorf and areas of the town of Dorfen supplied 7472 residents or 2166 customers with drinking and service water from four wells, the length of the supply lines without connections to the properties is 185 kilometers.

Around 566,000 cubic meters of water were pumped in 2021, of which around 553,000 cubic meters were sold.

The water price per cubic meter at the Erding-Ost municipal association is currently EUR 1.96 (including the basic fee), but the consumption fee is only EUR 1.07.

This puts the association below the Bavarian average of 2.15 and 1.65 euros, respectively, and also lower than other suppliers in the neighborhood.

In order to be able to maintain this status, it is necessary to install a new underwater pump for well I.

This work is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2023.

To do this, the well must be shut down for a short time.

The costs for this renovation, the implementation of which was awarded to a company from Buch am Erlbach, are around 56,000 euros.

Just a third of this, around 18,000 euros, is also incurred for the purchase of a new seated front lawn mower.

"Although our large lawn here at the administration building in Mauggen is mowed by an external contractor, we need a new, manoeuvrable machine for the sometimes crooked and difficult-to-access areas of our other properties," explained Managing Director Grögler to the meeting.

This was approved and a company from Bockhorn received the order.

The association is also concerned about the future power supply of its facilities.

The meeting subsequently agreed to the decision of the association management, which negotiated an electricity price of 45 cents per kilowatt hour for the new Eibach waterworks with the Dorfen municipal works.

"However", said Angermaier, chairman of the association, "this only applies to the first quarter of 2023, after that we have to see further".

On the other hand, the offer from the supplier Sempt EW for the Mauggen waterworks is cheaper: Here the ZWV gets electricity for a year at a price between 20 and 22.8 cents/kWh, which costs 43,000 euros for 200,000 kilowatt hours.

Association Councilor Bernhard Stein (Maierklopfen) finally wanted to know how long the ZWV could secure the water supply in the event of a blackout.

"With our diesel-powered emergency power generators, that would probably be possible for two to three days," says Grögler, "but after that we would have to fill up our tank again, if possible."
