Hundreds of youths and residents came today (Friday) to participate in the 5th Gedera race in memory of the Givat patrol soldier, the late Sgt. Ido Baruch, who was killed in a shooting attack near the settlement of Shebi Shomron, during which terrorists fired from a vehicle at IDF soldiers who were carrying out an operational activity.
Among the runners, Ido's father, Eitan Baruch, Ido's friends from the Givati patrol, students of Yeshiva Hitiz in Itamar and the head of the Shomron Regional Council Yossi Dagan.
At the end of the race there was an exciting ceremony.
Yoel Gamliel, head of the Gedera local council who was present at the event, greeted the participants.
"Ido was taken from us prematurely while he was protecting the residents of the country he loved so much. Ido was a fighter in the Givati patrol, a beloved boy full of heart and giving. Great sadness fell on the colony with the bitter news. This race was held in his memory."
