In terms of the epidemic situation, 15,726 new cases were confirmed in Hong Kong today, including 14,903 local cases and 823 imported cases. At the same time, 32 more patients passed away. The new crown pneumonia epidemic has been repeated, and there are another 15,726 confirmed cases in Hong Kong today.
Among the confirmed cases, 14,903 were local cases, and 823 were imported cases, accounting for 5.23% of the total cases.
Among the newly imported cases, 457 involved samples tested at the airport, 293 involved samples from days 1 to 3, and the remaining 73 cases involved samples from days 4 to 7.
Since 18,081 people entered the airport yesterday, the rate of confirmed cases was 4.55%, a slight drop from the 5% level yesterday.
The seven-day average number of confirmed cases was 775, and the seven-day average diagnosis rate was 4.34%.
Among the samples received by the Public Health Laboratory Service of the Department of Health for verification tests of local cases from December 7 to 13, the Omicron mutant virus strains BA.2.12.1 and BA.4/BA.5 substrains (including suspected cases ) related samples accounted for 0% and about 55.86% (seven-day moving average ratio) respectively.

Today, the Department of Health found 11 more local cases with mutated virus strains, namely 2 cases of XBB, 1 case of BF.7 and 8 cases of BQ.1.1. A total of 136 cases of XBB, 18 cases of XBD, and one case of BA.2.75 were found. 2. Eight cases of BF.7 and 163 cases of BQ.1.1 subtype.

In terms of schools, 906 schools reported 1,987 new cases, and 34 classes in 32 schools had to be suspended for five days.
As for residential care homes, 36 residential care homes had confirmed cases, namely 29 residential care homes for the elderly and 7 residential care homes for the disabled. Among them, 46 residents and 7 staff were diagnosed. The case should be isolated.
