According to reports and in-depth investigations, the Special Duty Team of the Sha Tin Police District launched an anti-drug operation in Sha Tin and Tai Wai yesterday (15th) at about 8:00 p.m. and arrested a 27-year-old A man surnamed Chen.
During the operation, the total market value of the drugs seized by the police was approximately HK$1.9 million.
During the operation, officers found the 27-year-old man surnamed Chan acting suspiciously outside Li Uk Estate in Tai Wai, so they stopped for investigation and seized about 30 grams of suspected crack cocaine on him.
Officers then searched the flat where he lived and seized about 2.1 kilograms of suspected cocaine, about 5.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine and a batch of drug manufacturing and packaging tools.
After preliminary investigation, the man was arrested on suspicion of "drug production" and "drug trafficking".
The total market value of the drugs seized in the operation was approximately HK$1.9 million.
The arrested man is now being detained for enquiries.
The police reiterated that trafficking in dangerous drugs is a serious crime. According to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance (Chapter 134 of the Laws of Hong Kong), the maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of HK$5 million and life imprisonment.
