Tutzing - For the sixth time, on January 7, 2023, around 500 hiking enthusiasts will take up the challenge of walking around Lake Starnberg in less than twelve hours.
There are still a few free tickets left.
50 kilometers on foot in one go around Lake Starnberg: The Epiphany March, which traditionally always takes place on the second weekend in January, will be repeated in 2023.
On January 7th, around 500 hikers have the opportunity to circumnavigate the well-known body of water.
Start is at the "Tutzinger Hof"
The non-commercial sporting event organized by passionate hiker Manfred Kager from Königsbrunn near Augsburg begins at 8 a.m. at the “Tutzinger Hof” inn in Tutzing.
The start is until 8.30 a.m. in several starting groups.
From there, the route runs clockwise via Possenhofen to Starnberg and via the eastern shore of the lake via Ammerland, Münsing and Ambach to Seeshaupt and via Bernried back to Tutzing.
Aid stations around the lake
Several refreshment stations will be set up along the route to provide the athletes with drinks and snacks.
The Red Cross is also on duty and ensures the health care of the participants.
“The Dreikönigsmarsch is now considered an absolute insider tip in the hiking scene and is enjoying ever-increasing popularity.
For me, the organization is an absolute matter of the heart,” reports Kager.
In 2022, around 400 athletes started the Epiphany March
The story of the Epiphany March began in 2018. At that time, Manfred Kager organized the circumnavigation of the lake as a training hike for long-distance hikers and 35 participants followed his invitation.
The tour was so well received that in 2019 he offered the Epiphany March as an official event for the first time and 100 hikers followed his invitation on ice and snow.
In 2020 there were already 300 participants, in 2021 the March Corona had to be canceled.
In a smaller group, however, it was made up for in the summer of 2021.
In 2022 around 400 hikers started.
Tickets for March of the Three Kings are free - donations go to charities
Manfred Kager is offering a total of 500 starting places for the march on January 7th.
The tickets are issued free of charge, but every hiker is then asked to make a voluntary donation to cover the costs.
Surpluses go entirely to charity.
Every participant who manages at least 26 kilometers of the route will receive a certificate at the finish line, which is also located at the Tutzinger Hof in Tutzing.
The inn remains open after the march for a cozy get-together.
If you would like to take part in the next Epiphany March around Lake Starnberg, you can still register.
