American diplomacy intends to strengthen its fight against disinformation coming from Russia and China in particular and appointed to do this Friday, December 16 the former spokesperson for the State Department, Jamie Rubin.

fight against disinformation and propaganda from foreign actors including Russia, China, Iran and extremist organizations such as the Islamic State group and al-Qaeda

Countering disinformation from extremist groups
Jamie Rubin, 62, was notably spokesperson for Secretary of State Madeleine Albright from 1997 to 2000 under the administration of Democratic President Bill Clinton.
A renowned figure in the United States, he also taught and was a commentator on television sets, before moving to London with his then partner, CNN correspondent Christiane Amanpour.

This cell within the State Department was created in 2016 initially to fight against disinformation coming from extremist groups but then refocused on China and Russia, the latter being accused of a vast campaign of disinformation after its invasion of Ukraine.
