The news that Nina and Guilio De Filippo would stop leasing the Pinocchio ice cream parlor in Peiting caused a stir at the end of November.

Since then it has been unclear how business on the main square would continue.

Now the lessor has commented on his plans to the local newspaper for the first time.

Peiting – The most important news first: The people of Peiting will not have to go to the neighboring town of Schongau in the future if they feel like a cool ice cream in the summer.

The ice cream parlor Pinocchio will remain an ice cream parlor, confirms Sergio De Nardi.

The Italian has been the tenant of the business for almost ten years and, according to his own statement, operates other ice cream parlors in the Allgäu.

He had rented the Peitinger Eiscafé to de Filippos since 2013, until this year there was no basis for a continuation of the business relationship and the contract was not extended.

Farewell with emotional letter

The end of the year is the end for the previous operators, who said goodbye to their customers with an emotional letter at the end of November (we reported).

Since then, there had been eager speculation about how the ice cream parlor in the town center would continue.

The news of the farewell also came as a surprise to homeowner Marita Lutz, De Nardi has meanwhile informed her about his new plans.

Accordingly, an Italian family of four will take over the Peitinger ice cream parlor, the lessor announced in an interview with the Schongauer Nachrichten.

She brings "20 years of ice cream experience" and is known for her "very good work".

Like her predecessors, she will live above the ice cream parlor.

It is important to De Nardi that the tables will be served again in the future.

The Italian does not want to reveal any more details at this point, except that the new ice cream parlor operators want to get started in February.

Ice cream parlor important factor for the place

The fact that operations are continuing is also good news for the community.

The ice cream parlor is an important factor for the town center, emphasizes Mayor Peter Ostenrieder when asked by SN.

Everything went well with the previous operators, they were well integrated into the community and offered "great ice cream".

"The new tenants are definitely following in big footsteps."
