The Christmas party of the AfD parliamentary group in the Brandenburg state parliament has apparently left its mark. The parliamentary administration is examining possible damage – and violations of the fire safety regulations.

Pictures online show broken wine glasses, half-empty red wine bottles and gnawed goose bones on the tables.

The photos are said to have been taken the morning after a Christmas party by the Brandenburg AfD parliamentary group.

And now cause a lot of trouble in Potsdam.

"The hall was found in an unacceptable condition on Thursday after the celebration," said a spokesman for the state parliament in Potsdam.

“The state parliament administration is now examining whether and what damage has occurred and what it costs to repair it.

The aim is that the taxpayers do not have to pay for it.« The »Bild« newspaper and the »BZ« had first reported on it.

For the AfD, the celebration can now be expensive.

"The damage in the meeting room is being determined and must be replaced," said a state parliament spokesman for the "Bild" newspaper.

"We'll send the invoice to the applicant personally."

The AfD faction celebrated in a room provided by the state parliament administration.

For example, it was criticized that she used containers with fuel paste to keep food warm.

A corresponding container can be seen in one of the photos taken.

»The main thing is that the goose is warm«

According to the state parliament's fire protection regulations, fire and open flames are prohibited in the building; exceptions must be agreed upon.

There was no exemption for the Christmas party.

The AfD faction defended itself – and denied having left the hall in a desolate condition.

"This committee room shows no signs of use or other traces," said Parliamentary Secretary Dennis Hohloch on Friday in the plenary session.

"We've cleaned and tidied it up just as well, and it looks the same as it did before the party." Hohloch did admit, though, that the fuel was used to heat the food.

SPD MP Jörg Vogelsänger said with a smile: "The main thing is that the goose is warm."
