The police suspect alcohol or drugs in a driver who roared wildly from Gießen to Marburg.
But the real reason for his odyssey was different.
Gießen/Marburg - Sometimes even the police are at a loss.
"Incredible but true" writes the police headquarters in Central Hesse in a press release about a driver who drew attention to himself on Friday, December 16, around 7:20 a.m.
The police received several emergency calls about the 71-year-old man's odyssey.
No wonder: the man drove his dark car over the B3 from Gießen to Marburg.
From the Gießener Nordkreuz he attracted attention with his unconventional driving style.
The police could no longer prevent the rear-end collision.

Police caught drivers flying blind over the B3 from Gießen to Marburg
According to the police, he was traveling in strong wavy lines.
He sometimes took a green stripe, sometimes the foot of a warning beacon.
The driver almost hit the crash barrier.
Up to the exit at the Marburg-Süd junction, the man drove in both lanes at the same time.
When he reached the exit, the witnesses could hardly believe their eyes: it looked to them as if the man wanted to turn around and continue in the opposite direction.

Instead, he continued to drive over the Südspange in the direction of Cappel.
It happened just before you could control the man.
In Beltershäuser Strasse, the driver drove his car into a car ahead and slightly injured the driver.
Both cars suffered damage.
Traffic was then obstructed at the Beltershäuser Strasse/Cappeler Strasse/bypass intersection.
The police initially suspected that the man was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
But that was not the reason for his wild driving, according to the police.

The man simply could not see anything through his windscreen and was flying blind.
The officials suspect that the water for the windshield wiper system was either completely missing or frozen.
They are now looking for other possible victims.
