The current estimate for the expansion of the Finsing school is almost twelve million euros.

The teacher's room conversion still has to wait.

Finsing

– The plans for the extension of the Finsing elementary and middle school are complete.

They have now been with the building authority in the district office for around two months and are awaiting approval.

The work will start next year, reported Mayor Max Kressirer (WGE) at the meeting of the school association meeting of the Finsing middle school association.

Costs of almost twelve million euros are expected.

As reported, the municipality of Finsing is planning an extension on the school grounds.

Some of the designated areas are currently overgrown with trees.

Therefore, a nature conservation law compensation is necessary.

Kressirer reported that this should take place directly on the school premises.

A week before the school association meeting, director Helmut Fryba explained to the municipality's traffic, environment and energy committee that 15 to 20 larger trees would have to be felled for the new building.

According to information from the Lower Nature Conservation Authority, it is an outdoor area and an intervention without a development plan - the community is therefore obliged to compensate.

"To do this, we have to reforest a more or less contiguous area with at least 15 to 18 trees," says Fryba.

So they went on a search in the municipal area, "because at first glance we thought that we had relatively few opportunities at the school itself".

The nature conservation authority would have agreed to an area on Großsenderstraße.

But then the school grounds were looked at again with landscape architect Robert Kerfers and a few options were found.

According to Kerfers' suggestion, six hornbeams could be planted in the area west of the sports hall.

There would be room for three mountain ash trees on the south bank, and eight fruit trees could also be planted in the south along the path that leads past the school grounds.

The Lower Nature Conservation Authority has already signaled that they also agree with this proposal.

"We assume that the building applications are now complete and that there are no further problems with the approval," said Kressirer in the school association.

The architect is currently working on the implementation planning, "so that we can tender in the spring".

Fryba estimates that construction can begin in June at the earliest.

According to Kressirer, the cost benchmark is currently 5437 euros per square meter.

According to the school supervisory approval, 2130 square meters were determined.

"That means it would be arithmetically 11.58 million euros what the construction will cost us." Around half of this, i.e. almost 5.8 million euros, is expected to be in the form of grants.

On March 1, 2023, however, the cost benchmark will be revised upwards, and it is hoped that the total will then be adjusted again.

"We will definitely propose around twelve million euros in the budget," said Kressirer.

Not included in this sum are the conversion of the teachers' wing (1.5 million euros) and the new hard court (250,000 euros).

Kressirer recalled the municipal council meeting on the budget and explained: "Financially, we won't be able to shoulder everything."

The school management was not enthusiastic about this, but showed understanding, says Kressirer.

On the other hand, there was no understanding that the hard court should not be rebuilt until 2026.

As is well known, the municipal council decided at the request of the school to bring this work forward.
