The mixed voices and the bunker brass music once again attracted a large number of listeners with their traditional Christmas concert.

It could take place live again.

Geretsried – Last year only in stream, this year live again: The traditional Christmas concert with the vocal ensemble Mixed Voices and the Gartenberger bunker brass band in the parish church of Maria Hilf in Geretsried attracted many visitors on Sunday.

When the concert started at 3:30 p.m., there was almost no space left.

At 6 p.m. the concert was offered a second time.

Geretsried: Traditional Christmas concert by mixed voices and bunker brass music

It was the same as at all Christmas markets in the district: people long for such festivities where they can meet again.

"It's a nice feeling that we can sing and play for each and every one of you and for us," Ludwig Schmid welcomed the audience. He led through the concert program with amusing Christmas stories and thoughtful words.

And that started out festive.

Divided into three blocks, the sound of the music changed into cheerful and finally contemplative, always alternating between choir and orchestra.

Many well-known Christmas carols, such as "Es wird scho glei dumpa" and "Es ist ein Ros' aussprungen" or "Wonderful Time" - a typically swinging Christmas song that was reminiscent of the candy-colored Christmas film world from the States.

"Oh du Fröhliche" traditionally ends the Christmas concert

Only one song was missing: "Silent Night, Holy Night" - because, as Ludwig Schmid explained, it could only be sung on Christmas Eve.

"Come to the Geretsried town hall at midnight on the 24th and sing with us," he invited the visitors to the traditional performance of the bunker brass band.

Anyone who plays an instrument and would like sheet music should contact him.

The Christmas concert, conducted by Roland Hammerschmid, was a real treat in terms of musical diversity and artful polyphony.

Well-known Christmas carols interpreted in an unusual way.

“Go inside and let the feeling inside you.

Enjoy the time, because you don't know how things will continue.” Schmid also found serious words about the world situation.

"Be content with what you have, because that's something to appreciate."

Before the concert traditionally ended with the "Oh du Fröhliche", in which the choir members formed a circle around the church with candlelight, there was a premiere: For the first time, the mixed voices and the bunker brass band played a lively and groovy song together: " Kimm good hoam.” web
