Special envoy to Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône)
After a night of terror, as if frozen by shock and grief, the residents were gathered Friday morning, in silence, near 12 chemin des Barques, in the Mas-du-Taureau district, in Vaulx-en-Velin.
During the night of Thursday to Friday, the flames seized a seven-storey building, taking the lives of 10 people, including 5 children aged 3 to 15 years.
The fire, which broke out around 3 a.m., also injured 4 people, still in absolute emergency, and 20 others slightly – ten of whom were discharged from the hospital on Friday afternoon.
From the neighboring buildings and neighborhoods, many Vaudois rushed to learn of the drama upon waking.

These dead are our families, our children, our friends
”, chokes a resident in tears.

I grew up in this building for 18 years, it's so sad
," laments Mustapha, in his thirties, who lives in the tower opposite.
