A fatal car accident occurred in Tung Chung. Today (16th) at 9:18 am, a Long Win bus, a van and a 5.5-ton truck collided at Yu Tung Road near Tung Chung Interchange.
On-site news said that the driver of the van was seriously injured and died on the spot, and another person was trapped under the vehicle. At least 11 people were injured. Several ambulances and mobile medical vehicles were on the scene to rescue them.
The Transport Department announced that due to a traffic accident, the entire line of Yu Tung Road (towards North Lantau Hospital) near Tung Chung East Interchange is now closed.
Meanwhile, some traffic lanes at Tung Chung East Interchange are now closed.
Drivers please be as patient as possible.
People traveling to Tung Chung and the airport are advised to pay attention to the latest traffic conditions broadcast by radio/television.
The Long Win bus E36A that was involved in the accident was traveling between Yat Tung Village and Yuen Long. At the time of the incident, it was driving along Yu Tung Road and collided with a passenger van and a 5.5-ton truck near the Tung Chung Interchange.
It was seen at the scene that the front of the bus was dented and damaged, and the windshield was broken; the front and rear of the 5.5-ton truck in front of the bus were also damaged;
Someone is suspected of being trapped under the car.

A large number of rescue personnel were on the scene to assist, some of the injured were bandaged on the spot, and some were sent to North Lantau Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital.
The 64-year-old van driver died at the scene, and the other 11 injured included four men and seven women, police said.
Both the front and rear of the 5.5-ton truck were damaged.
