At this place near Moosburg, where there is a wayside cross today, the so-called high court was located until 1817/18 and thus the place of execution for the Moosburg district court.

The Moosburger Heimatverein has now met for the general meeting.

And reported about a very special discovery.

Moosburg

– The most recent general meeting of the Moosburger Heimatverein in the Thonstetten fire station caused mixed feelings.

It was also possible to tell of an important discovery with a gruesome background.

Members demand higher contributions

First, however, in addition to the statement of accounts by the chairman and the financial report by the treasurer, a less pleasant matter was the focus: the increase in the annual contribution from eight to ten euros, after the amount had not increased since the association was founded 44 years ago.

In the debate, however, the increase was not criticized by any member - on the contrary: some even recommended an increase to twelve euros.

In the vote, however, everyone spoke out in favor of the proposal by Chairman Anton Neumaier to remain moderate and to increase it to ten euros from 2023.

In his annual report, Chairman Neumaier pointed out that since the last general meeting in October 2021, the association has organized many events related to the "1250 years of Moosburg" anniversary.

The lecture by city and district councilor Martin Pschorr about the development of the new town on the site of the former Stalag VII A prisoner of war camp was a contribution to the more recent history of the city of Moosburg, as was the picture lecture about the Isar rafting, which lasted until the middle of the 19th century 19th century until the commissioning of the Munich-Landshut railway line in 1858.

In addition, the association held seven monthly meetings and various exhibitions and also held a memorial service on the wayside shrine in the area of the former Amperbrücke to commemorate the 100th

Official Cruelty

However, what particularly moved him as a home caretaker, Neumaier said, was the result of the research and also the lecture by secretary Florian Bichlmeier: about the last witch trial in what was then the district court of Moosburg exactly 300 years ago.

At that time, a handicapped beggar, namely Georg Pröls from Pfettrach in the municipality of Wang, was executed with the cruelty of the authorities for alleged connections with witches - by strangling and subsequent burning at the stake.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Local history researchers had already known that this place of execution was on the other side of the Isar Bridge, but not the exact location.

It was now possible to find him under the leadership of Florian Bichlmeier with the support of Martin Ziegltrum.

A wayside cross on the right-hand side of the road on the state road towards Langenpreising, the feeder road to the motorway, is therefore the place for this gallows waste, where the authorities acted mercilessly, especially against the poorer sections of the population.

The home club will therefore make more of this place of remembrance, said Neumaier.

Toni Neumaier then concluded his remarks by pointing out, among other things, that the number of members is currently 201.

The following financial report by Treasurer Toni Schwaiger showed orderly cash management, whereupon Sebastian Kreitmeier as auditor applied for discharge, which the members then decided to do.

After pointing out various event topics for 2023 - for example a planned lecture about the surveyor Castulus Riedl, who came from Moosburg as the son of a master baker, the chairman ended the official part of the meeting and led to a cozy get-together.
