Dear readers,
In 2023, we're going on an adventure!
Rediscover the taste for discovery, travel but also risk.
Treat yourself to an expedition, a sporting challenge, a visit to an archaeological site, a road trip... In January, on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Quebec, the average temperature fluctuates between -8 and -18°C, but there, the cold is not a valid reason to cancel the sport.
For a bicycle traveler, the 1240 bumpy kilometers of the Carretera Austral in Chile are more than a challenge, they are an immersion in a forgotten universe, made up of violent contrasts of colors and climates.
It's time to travel the most beautiful roads in the world and live unusual experiences.
ALL OUR INSPIRATIONS
Archaeology: in Saudi Arabia, the extraordinary site of Khaybar revealed to the world
In the northwest of Saudi Arabia, the archaeological site of Khaybar.
Shiv Gohil
In northwest Saudi Arabia, all around Khaybar, 218 km south of al-Ula, about 150 km north of Medina, thousands of structures stretch for miles around the oasis.
What we see is all the more astounding because we didn't know it existed.
It is a completely different story that then guides our steps: the Jewish occupation of Khaybar.
Here lies their kingdom of Arabia.
Except for the local populations, only archaeologists had access to it so far.
We can now get there.

Snow: in Quebec, the magic of winter on the St. Lawrence
From the Charlevoix massif, the St. Lawrence turns pink at dusk.
Bruno Mazodier / Le Figaro Magazine
Clinging to the north shore of the river, Charlevoix is a region that knows what kind of wood is warming up in winter.
The authentic Quebec winter can be savored here, between the pines powdered with frost, the mountains where the moose patrols and the smiling villages of the coast.
TRAVELOGUE
Diving:
Dancing with sharks
Excursion to the blue lagoon on the island of Rangiroa, in French Polynesia.
GREG LECOEUR / Le Figaro Magazine
Pelagic sharks (great white, tiger, mako) travel hundreds of kilometers every day and there is no certainty of crossing them.
On the reefs and in the lagoons, the chances increase because their habitats are perfectly identified.
Rubbing shoulders with such animals in complete freedom, far off the coasts of the world, is often done aboard cruise ships, designed and equipped for scuba diving.

By bike: on the Carretera Austral, the road to the end of the world
In spring and autumn, the trip is doable, but expect difficult weather conditions.
Aymeric Guittet / Le Figaro
The Carretera Austral is a road of the antipodes.
Built at the instigation of the dictator Pinochet to open up the south of Chile, it sinks through the landscapes of Patagonia, between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes mountain range.
Unexplored mountains, dense vegetation and fjords: rare are the places in the world where one feels one's destitution so keenly in the face of the wild.
