The Mui Wo mountain bike practice field is officially open today (17th). There are different special facilities in the field, such as undulating mud jumping platforms, dirt slopes, gravel trails, etc., for all mountain bikers to challenge. Beginners came to try "cycling" on mountain roads.

Ho Kwok-fai, chief engineer of the Sustainable Lantau Office, pointed out that the construction cost of the training ground was about 40 million yuan, emphasizing that there was no overrun.

The Mui Wo Mountain Bike Practice Center is located near Lai Chi Yuen Village, Mui Wo, next to the Mui Wo Water Treatment Works.

The driving range covers an area of ​​about 4.5 hectares and is the first mountain bike driving range in Hong Kong.

Mountain bikers can go to Mui Wo by ferry, bus or other means of transportation. In Mui Wo, walk to the back of the old school building of the former Nanyue District Secondary School in the New Territories, near the Mui Wo Sewage Treatment Works, and go to the east entrance of the Mui Wo Mountain Bike Trail. .

In addition, you can also choose to turn into the road leading to Lai Chi Yuen Cemetery on South Lantau Road, and then go to the practice field through the emergency vehicle passage.

There is a slope for children

The practice field is equipped with different technical facilities, including single-plank bridges, gravel ramps, stone pools, jumping platforms, wooden paths, and two dirt slopes for adults and children.

Each technical feature is graded according to the trail difficulty classification system adopted by the International Mountain Cycling Association, and the rider can taste the feeling of jumping on the driving range.

The difficulty of the on-site facilities is mainly from beginner to intermediate level

Lin Huiming, a trail expert of the International Mountain Cycling Association, said that the difficulty classification system is divided into 5 levels, which are white level (entry level), green level (beginner level), blue level (intermediate level), black diamond level (advanced level) and double black diamond level. (highest difficulty).

The facilities in the venue are mainly green-level and blue-level; however, there are white-level facilities for beginners to try, and there are also facilities for children.

The public of any age group can come as long as they want to try mountain biking.

The driving range is the second phase of the improvement and expansion of the mountain bike track network in South Lantau.

The first phase is to improve the existing mountain bike trails from Pui O to Gou Ling Chung and Chi Ma Wan, which was completed in October 2017.

The second stage, which includes the driving range, also expands the mountain bike trails on the Chi Ma Wan Peninsula.

The entire South Lantau Mountain Bike Trail has a length of 44.5 kilometers.

The third phase of the project will connect the cycling track at the driving range and the cycling track at Chi Ma Wan.
