The official weather warning from the German Weather Service still applies, now for almost the entire south of Bavaria.
There is a warning of black ice up to and including 4 a.m. on Friday.
So if you don't necessarily have to go to the front door, it's better to stay at home.
For everyone else, caution is advised.

Red alert in large parts of Bavaria: As on Wednesday, the disaster warning service KATWARN triggered.
This time a warning was sent out about freezing rain and the resulting black ice.

Update from December 15, 2:57 p.m .:
After numerous trains had failed due to the cold, the private company Go-Ahead Bayern is planning a shuttle timetable around Augsburg on Friday.
As a result, passengers would have to change trains there if they wanted to continue in the direction of Donauwörth or Ulm, for example.
"The current weather situation is causing problems for many," said managing director Fabian Amini on Thursday.
The company's vehicles could not cope with the black ice on the overhead lines.
According to Amini, nine trains had broken down on the open route almost at the same time on Wednesday.
The problem is that the pantographs have switched off and lowered.
Due to frozen water in the air pressure system of the vehicles, the customers could not be lifted up to the overhead line again.
Now all vehicles would need to be drained and maintained to prevent further problems.

Therefore, according to Go-Ahead, 13 of 56 vehicles were defective on Thursday and failed.
Initially, they planned with a reduced traffic concept.
However, since this is not stable enough, the company is now going into shuttle traffic in the Augsburg network.
Around 50 percent of the trains ran in the Allgäu.

Black ice in Bavaria: Fatal fall in Murnau

Yesterday, Wednesday, December 14, a 79-year-old was walking on a slightly sloping sidewalk in the center of Murnau (Garmisch-Partenkirchen district).
He fell on an icy section.
Because he was unconscious, first responders initiated resuscitation.
The man came to the Murnau accident clinic.
Despite the measures taken immediately, he died around 12 noon.

At first glance, the weather in Bavaria seems to be calming down.
Since 10 a.m., the official storm warning of black ice has passed (colored red on the DWD warning map), at 11 a.m. the orange alert level has also largely expired.
Now there are still warnings about low levels of ice and frost in the Free State.
For the south, however, the DWD has already issued "Preliminary information on severe weather before black ice" (Thursday, 7 p.m. - Friday, 6 a.m.).
The DWD announced that freezing rain could be expected from the south from late Thursday evening.
The rain will turn to snow during Friday night.
"Due to the widespread black ice, restrictions in road and rail traffic are possible," warned the meteorologists.
Weather-related flight chaos in Munich - accidents on Bavaria's roads
After the freezing rain from the previous day, snowfall in Bavaria caused traffic delays on Thursday.
The police registered many accidents, mostly with body damage, but also with a few injuries.
There were over a dozen accidents involving 23 vehicles on Autobahns 9 and 99 near Munich.
Overall, the damage was around 120,000 euros.
On the A8 early Thursday morning, a truck accident on a snow-covered road caused the highway to be closed for hours.
A truck had started to sway around 1.20 a.m. near Odelzhausen in the Dachau district, whereupon the truck trailer overturned.
The driver was not injured in the accident, a police spokesman said.
The emergency services diverted traffic, and the road remained closed until early morning.
After more than 100 flights were canceled the day before, there were also problems at Munich Airport on Thursday.
"Due to the wintry weather, there are currently disruptions in air traffic," said the airport.
A number of arriving and departing machines were reported as being delayed, and some connections were also canceled.
Onset of winter: Truck overturns on the A8 in the Dachau district - the highway is closed

An accident at night still causes chaos on the A8.
At around 1.20 a.m., shortly after the Odelzhausen junction, a truck train overturned on the slippery winter road.
Since then, the Autobahn towards Munich has been completely closed.
The salvage work will continue for a few hours because the cargo has to be unloaded by hand beforehand.

The red alert was over at 10 a.m., but warnings still apply.
In and around Munich, there are still warnings about ice, throughout Bavaria there are also warnings about frost and/or low levels of ice.
For the south of Bavaria - including Munich, Passau, Kelheim and on the edge of the Alps - the DWD has already issued a "preliminary information about thunderstorms before black ice" (Thursday, 7 p.m. - Friday, 6 a.m.).

It says: "There is a risk of ice with a potential risk from freezing rain." The DWD also warns of possible dangers: "Danger to life and limb from suddenly freezing rain.
Recommendations for action: Avoid staying outdoors and driving or adapting your behavior on the road;
Prepare for impairments on all traffic routes, including closures/closures, adjust your driving style if necessary, fill up your tank if possible, take blankets and warm drinks with you.”
