First report, December 13, 2 p.m
.: Munich –
Winter is still coming to Bavaria.
At the weekend, winter sports fans were happy about a lot of snow, even in Munich a thin layer remained.
The temperatures have also adapted to the season and the German Weather Service (DWD) in Bavaria has been issuing an official warning of frost for a few days.
Level 2 even applies in eastern Bavaria, "severe frost" occurs here at temperatures between -9 and -11 degrees.
Now the DWD has even published advance information about severe weather.
Weather in Bavaria: DWD warns of black ice – "There may be damage to power lines"
From Wednesday night (December 14), 0 a.m. to Thursday, 9 a.m., the DWD warns of black ice in southern Bavaria.
The districts on the border with Austria are affected, as well as the foothills of the Alps up to Munich.
The reason: "In the night of Wednesday, precipitation will come from the south-west, some of which will initially fall as snow, but will quickly turn into freezing rain." It must therefore be expected that there will be widespread black ice.
"It cannot be ruled out that the freezing rain will last for many hours," the warning continues.

“As a result, massive restrictions in road and rail traffic are to be expected.
In addition, damage to the infrastructure, such as electricity pylons and lines, can occur.” Power outages would then be the result.
There is also a risk of ice breaking in forests.
This can cause branches to fall, so walkers should exercise extreme caution.
White Christmas?
Weather expert sees "notorious thaw" coming
Meteorologist Dominik Jung from wetter.net speaks of "freezing rain and snow" in his latest forecast.
On the Zugspitze there should be -21.8 degrees.
In his forecast, Jung also looks at the weather conditions after the 4th Advent.
In the Christmas week it will apparently be significantly warmer again.
"The infamous Christmas thaw is coming," says Jung.
The cold air masses are being pushed out of Germany, so it doesn't look like a white Christmas at the moment.

However, the weather map for Christmas Eve still leaves a small spark of hope.
At the moment it looks like cold air masses will come from the east to Bavaria again for Christmas.
So it could snow at least in eastern Bavaria.
