Britta Drummer has opened a sustainable kiosk in the historic Milchhäusl.

In addition to coffee and cake, there are also Lumbono floor lamps.

Stockdorf

– This is what our future could look like: The newly opened kiosk at Bahnstraße 35 consists exclusively of recycled items.

For example, the "Lumbono" floor lamps with canvas shades designed and manufactured by Britta Drummer.

The newly fitted solid pine kitchen is also an immaculately restored 1970s model.

"Collecting and upcycling is my passion," explains the married mother of three.

The opening was on the occasion of the Christmas market

The kiosk was opened on the occasion of the Stockdorfer Christkindlmarkt.

When you visit our newspaper, a fire blazes in the Swedish stove and it smells of pine.

Next to the stove there is a cozy wing chair upholstered in rusty red and invites you to read.

There is plenty to read: there are plenty of books on the shelf under the second-hand coffee machine.

On the facade of the former milk house of the Kothmair-Jäger family, you will discover a cupboard filled to the brim with books.

Novels by Charlotte Link and Amos Oz are lined up in the fir-green lacquered display case.

The books come from the little house across the street from the Schwab bookstore in Stockdorf that was torn down this year, says Wolfgang Jäger, who is just stopping by for a coffee at the kiosk.

From Wanneystrasse to Bahnstrasse

"Upcycling is our philosophy of life," explains Britta Drummer.

That is why the creative entrepreneur has been making lights from upcycled textiles such as canvas or the burlap sacks of a coffee roaster in her small backyard workshop in Stockdorf on Wanneystrasse since 2014.

Britta Drummer sells her high-quality "Lumbono" lights from her own manufacture in the online shop.

"After Corona, I had the feeling: I have to get out among people," she recalls.

The opportunity arose at the former kiosk of the Jäger family and the closed Kothmair carpentry.

After cameraman Sebastian Bürck, who ran the neighborhood café Paletti in the backyard, gave up the location on Bahnstraße, she seized the opportunity.

"I thought to myself: If not now, then when." So she rented the vacant, 70 square meter space on Bahnstrasse in Stockdorf.

Most recently, a stove builder exhibited his models here.

My space

Little by little, Drummer and her husband, a trained carpenter, collected and restored discarded furniture for the facility.

For example the built-in kitchen: The solid wood original from the 1970s comes from the household of a deceased old lady in Munich-Schwabing.

The sparkling clean coffee machine that delivers steaming cappuccino is also needed.

The creative entrepreneur is most pleased that she now finally has an exhibition space for her sustainable "Lumbono" lamps with frames from the nearby forge in Unterbrunn.

It's also about a new attitude towards life

But something else is important.

Namely that there is now a place where people can just meet over a cup of tea or coffee.

"It's also about bringing life back to Stockdorf," she says.

When Britta Drummer sits on the wooden window sill in the shop window, some drivers on Bahnstrasse even slam on the brakes.

The new sustainable kiosk at Bahnstraße 35 in Stockdorf is open daily, except Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
