600 requests for settlement of old facilities and new licensing in Daraa

Most of the industrial, craft and investment establishments existing in Daraa during the years of the war on Syria were destroyed and vandalized as a result of terrorist acts, and the investment of some of them stopped due to obstacles related to the instructions and requirements of administrative licensing.

As a result of government agencies following up on this reality and to mitigate the owners of the suspended or violating facilities, the Prime Minister issued Communiqués 41 and 42 on the fifth of October, with the aim of finding appropriate solutions and re-starting the suspended facilities and entering them into production and work.

The director of the Syrian Investment Authority branch in Daraa, Eng. Qassem Al-Zenika, said in a statement to SANA: The governorate has received a large number of requests from establishment owners to restart their old establishments or license new ones in all fields in preparation for settling their conditions and entering the labor market, indicating that 600 requests have been responded to. For issued communications, they are currently being studied, necessary checks are made, and their statuses are settled.

He added: Communiqué No. 41 allowed the investment of industrial facilities and warehouses that obtained preliminary approval for licensing outside the regulatory schemes and protection zones, and gave the relevant authorities the authority to grant administrative licensing to these facilities after completing equipment and machinery, while Communiqué No. 42 grants temporary permission to all existing and invested facilities except 16 issued by the Prime Minister constituted an opportunity for investors in the governorate to license agricultural, service, tourism and industrial facilities that depend on agricultural production, in both animal and vegetable sectors.

Al-Zaniqa said: These reports constituted an essential financial tributary that supports the work of the city and town councils by providing additional funds that contribute to the development of the unit’s resources through the revenues of the settlement of establishments, in addition to establishing facilities in all fields and providing job opportunities for a large number of the people of the province.

In turn, the Director of Industry, Engineer Imad Al-Rifai, stated in a similar statement that Communication 16 is important for launching new facilities and introducing them to the labor market, especially in the agricultural production and processing sector that characterizes the governorate, indicating that the Directorate completes all procedures easily and smoothly to speed up the licensing and implementation process.

Director of Tourism in the governorate, Yasser Al-Saadi, explained that Communication No. 16 is an important step to settling the conditions of tourism facilities that were established during the years of the crisis through according to laws and regulations, indicating that there are a number of tourism facilities that will enter into investment after the issuance of the communication.

A number of investors pointed out the importance of communications in increasing the number of licensed and executing establishments, in addition to settling the conditions of existing ones, while a number of them called for including some industrial establishments within the regulatory schemes with the communication, while canceling some requirements such as the building facade police and the property occupancy rate.
