Solar parks are a hotly debated topic at Tegernsee.

The Wiesseer CSU has now suggested the Bad Hügel as a possible location.

Opinions on this varied widely.

Bad Wiessee

– The prices for fossil fuels are rising, and at the same time the consequences of climatic changes are becoming increasingly clear.

The call for more sustainability in the field of energy supply is now getting louder and louder in the Tegernsee Valley.

On Thursday evening (December 15), the topic came up on the council table in Bad Wiessee.

The CSU parliamentary group had submitted an application to have part of the Bad Hügel examined as a location for an open-space photovoltaic system.

The area is owned by the municipality.

CSU spokesman admits: "Of course it's not nice"

Especially with solar power you have a completely CO2-neutral energy source at hand, which should be used more for energy production in the future, explained CSU parliamentary group spokesman Florian Sareiter on the present application.

"Of course it's not nice, that's clear," he admitted, referring to the proposed solar park.

But one must clearly see the advantages of such a system, said Sareiter.

Plant could also supply play arena or future swimming pool

According to the applicants, the location in Bad Hügel would also be a good choice tactically, as it offers the possibility of supplying many properties with self-generated electricity.

In doing so, Sareiter not only referred to the existing building, such as the neighboring play arena, but also focused on future objects such as a swimming pool, which – if all valley communities play along – could possibly be built on the site of the demolished bathing park.

"We want to know whether such a project is possible there in principle," summarized the spokesman.

Peter Kathan (CSU) pointed out that there aren't many places in Bad Wiessee where you can easily hide such a system.

There was agreement on this during the group's internal consultation.

Specifically, it is an area of around 4000 square meters surrounded by mapped bog.

SPD local council would prefer PV systems on roofs

Bernd Kuntze-Fechner (SPD) described the application as “very commendable”.

It is important to examine this option.

Nevertheless, he warned against falling into activism.

After all, it is a sensitive area with rare plants.

The installation of a solar park would mean a significant intervention in nature.

Instead, Kuntze-Fechner suggested using roofs for PV systems as a priority.

That could take a long time, Johannes von Miller (Greens) was skeptical.

In his eyes, too, the application was worth supporting, but it meant a balancing act.

Of course, the guests come to Lake Tegernsee for the sake of the landscape, but they also need electricity.

You have to wait for the examination by the specialist authorities before a concrete decision can be made here.

FWG municipal council: "Such monsters do not fit into the Tegernsee valley"

A clear no came from Johann Zehetmeier (FWG), who spoke on behalf of his entire group.

Such a facility will always be visible from somewhere.

"In doing so, we counteract our concern to preserve our beautiful landscape," he warned.

Thomas Erler (CSU) was also unable to make friends with the project and regretted having to oppose the application from within his own ranks.

"Such monsters don't fit into the Tegernsee valley," was his verdict.

He also feared setting a precedent.

This problem shows up with every form of energy production, Sareiter pointed out.

“Please not with me” is the usual reaction.

Finally, the CSU application was approved with 15:3 votes.

In cooperation with the specialist authorities at the Miesbach district office, the administration in the Wiesse town hall will carry out a suitability test for the location.
