The Hong Kong Cycling Festival after four years will be held tomorrow (18th Sunday). The event will pass through the "Three Tunnels and Three Bridges" (Cheung Tsing Tunnel, Nam Wan Tunnel, Sharp Hill Tunnel, Ting Kau Bridge, Tsing Ma Bridge and Stonecutters Bridge).

Police will implement crowd safety management measures and special traffic arrangements in Kowloon and the New Territories on that day.


Tonight (17th) the road will be closed gradually at 8:00, starting from the loading and unloading area opposite Mody Road Garden in Tsim Shao Tsui, and most of the road closures and diversions will be implemented from midnight tonight.

Starting at 1:00 am, the upper lanes of the Lantau Link towards Kowloon, the Jian Shan Tunnel towards Sha Tin, the southbound lanes of the Cheung Tsing Tunnel, and the southbound lanes of the Ting Kau Bridge began to be closed.

The police expect that the upper level of the Lantau Link will be unsealed at 7:15 am, and the rest will be unsealed at 11:00.


During the road closure period, about 150 bus and green minibus routes passing through the West Kowloon Highway will be diverted, shortened, suspended or temporarily relocated in stages.


Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon 2022 has 50km and 30km categories. The race will start from outside the Empire Center on Salisbury Road, pass through West Kowloon and the southern part of the New Territories, and finally finish at Salisbury Road near 1881.

According to the crowd situation at the scene, the Police will consider implementing crowd safety management measures in the vicinity of the racing track in Tsim Sha Tsui District and other crowded places.

Kowloon

The first stage

The loading and unloading area outside Mody Road Garden will be closed from 8:00 pm on December 17 to approximately 3:30 pm on December 18, or until the end of the race.

*The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 1:00 a.m. to about 11:00 a.m. on December 18, or until the end of the race:

1. Southbound West Kowloon Highway between Tsing Kwai Highway and Lin Cheung Road southbound slip road;

2. The slip road connecting southbound Lin Cheung Road and eastbound Lai Cheung Road; and

3. The branch road connecting the northbound of Libao Road and the eastbound of Qingsha Highway.

1. Vehicles along Mei Tsing Road are not allowed to go south on West Kowloon Highway; and

2. Vehicles traveling along Lai Po Road northbound are not allowed to enter the slip road leading to Tsing Sha Highway eastbound.

Mody Road between Mody Plaza and Mody Road Garden will be closed from 1:00 am to approximately 10:30 am on December 18, or until the end of the race.

*The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 1:00 a.m. to about 3:30 p.m. on December 18, or until the end of the race:

1. The southbound lane of Princess Road Connection Road between Metropolis Road and Hung Hom Bypass;

2. The round-trip direction of the Hung Hom Bypass between Salisbury Road and Princess Margaret Road Link;

3. The second and third eastbound lanes of the Hung Hom Bypass between Princess Margaret Road Link and Hung Hom Road;

4. The third and fourth westbound routes of the Hung Hom Bypass between Princess Margaret Road Link and Hung Hom Road;

5. The second and third lanes of eastbound Hung Hom Road between Hung Hom Bypass and Hung Hom South Road;

6. The second and third lanes of westbound Hung Hom Road between Tak Fung Street and Hung Hom Bypass;

7. Kangyun Path;

8. The branch road connecting Metropolis Road and Hung Hom Bypass;

Nine, Mody;

10. The passage under Salisbury Road;

11. Southbound Salisbury Road between the Administration Building of the Cross-Harbour Tunnel and Science Museum Road; and

12. To and from Salisbury Road between Science Museum Road and Chatham Road South.

3. Vehicles traveling along Science Museum Road southbound must turn left into Hongzhuang Road northbound;

4. Vehicles traveling southbound along Hung Hom Road must go to Cheong Wan Road and other destinations via the slip road connecting Hung Hom Bypass;

5. Vehicles traveling along Chatham Road South southbound must turn right to Cameron Road westbound or after completing the fifth road closure, turn right to Salisbury Road westbound, except for franchised buses;

6. Vehicles traveling eastbound on Salisbury Road must turn left to Northbound Chatham Road, except for franchised buses;

7. Vehicles traveling eastbound on Mody Road must turn around at Mody Road near Mody Lane and head westbound on Mody Road; and

8. Vehicles traveling westbound on Mody Road must turn around at Mody Road near Mody Road Garden and head eastbound on Mody Road.

Vehicles longer than seven meters will not be allowed to enter Mody Road between Chatham Road South and Science Museum Road from 1:00 a.m. to about 10:30 a.m. on December 18.

1. Westbound Salisbury between Chatham Road South and Nathan Road;

2. Salisbury Road eastbound near Chatham Road South near Chatham Road South U-turn; and

3. Chatham Road South southbound between Mody Road and Salisbury Road, except franchised buses.

Vehicles traveling along Chatham Road South southbound must turn right into Cameron Road westbound; or turn left into Mody Road eastbound, except vehicles longer than seven meters or more.

*The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 2:30 am to about 11:00 am on December 18, or until the end of the race:

road closure

1. Northbound Kowloon Park Drive between Salisbury Road and Canton Road;

2. Eastbound Peking Road between Canton Road and Kowloon Park Drive;

3. The second and third westbound lanes of Middle Road between Hankow Road and Kowloon Park Drive;

4. Southbound Canton Road between Salisbury Road and Haiphong Road;

5. Ashley Road southbound between Peking Road and Middle Road;

6. Westbound Salisbury Road between Star Ferry Pier and Nathan Road;

7. Eastbound Salisbury Road between the Star Ferry Terminal and Kowloon Park Drive;

8. The fourth lane eastbound on Salisbury Road between Kowloon Park Drive and Hankow Road;

9. The fourth and fifth lanes of eastbound Salisbury Road between Hankow Road and Nathan Road;

10. The third and fourth lanes of eastbound Salisbury Road between Nathan Road and Middle Road; and

11. Southbound Lin Cheung Road between West Kowloon Highway and Jordan Road.

1. Vehicles traveling along southbound Canton Road must turn left to eastbound Haiphong Road;

2. Vehicles traveling westbound along Middle Road must turn left into Kowloon Park Drive southbound;

3. Vehicles traveling along Nathan Road southbound must turn left into Salisbury Road eastbound;

4. Vehicles traveling along Lin Cheung Road southbound must enter the southbound lane leading to Nga Cheung Road Flyover and the southbound lane of West Kowloon Highway; and

5. Vehicles traveling along Peking Road eastbound are not allowed to turn right into Ashley Road southbound.

The third phase

*The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 3:00 am on December 18th to about 11:00 am, or until the end of the race:

road closure

1. Eastbound Jordan Road between Jordan Road Flyover and Lin Cheung Road;

2. The fourth westbound lane of Jordan Road between Hui Man Road and Lin Cheung Road;

3. The eastbound lane of Jordan Road Flyover between Haibao Road and Lin Cheung Road northbound;

4. Westbound Jordan Road Flyover between Haibao Road and Nga Cheung Road;

5. The third and fourth lanes of northbound Lin Cheung Road between the northbound U-turn of Lin Cheung Road and Jordan Road;

6. Between the northbound U-turn of Lin Cheung Road and the west underpass of Austin Road, the third and fourth lanes of the southbound underpass of Lin Cheung Road;

7. The northbound lane of the lowest level of Lin Cheung Road between the west underpass of Austin Road and the exit of the underpass of Lin Cheung Road;

8. Westbound Austin Road West;

9. Westbound lane of Austin Road West Underground Carriage;

10. Austin Road West Ground Loop; and

11. Northbound Nga Cheung Road Viaduct between Austin Road West and Jordan Road.

2. Vehicles traveling along Canton Road northbound are not allowed to turn left into Westbound Austin Road West;

3. Vehicles exiting from the International Commerce Plaza must turn left into the southbound Nga Cheung Road elevated road;

4. Vehicles traveling along west Jordan Road to northbound Lin Cheung Road must turn left at the roundabout at the north of Nga Cheung Road and turn left on eastbound Jordan Road to northbound Lin Cheung Road;

5. Vehicles leaving To Wah Road must turn left along eastbound Jordan Road to northbound Lin Cheung Road; and

6. Vehicles traveling along the westbound Jordan Road Flyover must turn left into the southbound Nga Cheung Road viaduct.

fourth stage

*The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 4:15 a.m. to about 11 a.m. on December 18, or until the end of the race:

1. Northbound Canton Road between China Hong Kong City and Austin Road West will be closed; and

2. The northbound lane of Canton Road between the vehicular entrance and exit of China Hong Kong City and Kowloon Park Drive will be changed to one-way southbound.

The first stage

*The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 1:00 a.m. to about 7:15 a.m. on December 18, or until the end of the race:

1. Vehicles traveling from Lantau Island to Kowloon must pass through the lower level of the Lantau Link, Northwest Tsing Yi Interchange, Tsing Yi North Shore Highway, Tsing Tsuen Road, Tsuen Wan Road, Kwai Chung Road, Cheung Sha Wan Road and Lai Chi Kok Road;

2. Vehicles traveling from Lantau Island to Tuen Mun and Yuen Long must pass through the lower level of Lantau Link and northbound Ting Kau Bridge before arriving at Tuen Mun Road and Tai Lam Tunnel;

3. Vehicles traveling from Ma Wan to Kowloon have to pass westbound Lantau Link (Kap Shui Mun Bridge), the lower level of Lantau Link, Northwest Tsing Yi Interchange, Tsing Yi North Shore Highway, Tsing Tsuen Road, Tsuen Wan Road, Kwai Chung Road, Cheung Sha Wan Road and Lai Chi Kok Road; and

4. Vehicles traveling from Ma Wan to Tuen Mun and Yuen Long must pass through the westbound Lantau Link (Kap Shui Mun Bridge), the lower level of the Lantau Link and the northbound Ting Kau Bridge before arriving at Tuen Mun Road and Tai Lam Tunnel.

second stage

*The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 1:00 a.m. to about 9:00 a.m. on December 18, or until the end of the race:

road closure

1. Jianshan Tunnel towards Sha Tin;

2. The slip road from eastbound Chengxiang Road to northbound Tsing Sha Highway; and

3. The northbound lane of Tsing Sha Highway between West Kowloon Highway and the entrance of Jianshan Tunnel towards Sha Tin.

traffic diversion

1. Vehicles traveling from West Kowloon to New Territories East via the Jianshan Tunnel must be diverted to northbound Castle Peak Road, eastbound Cheng Cheung Road, eastbound Lung Cheung Road, northbound Tai Po Road or northbound Lion Rock Tunnel;

2. Vehicles traveling from eastbound Ching Cheung Road to New Territories East must be diverted via eastbound Lung Cheung Road and northbound Tai Po Road or northbound Lion Rock Tunnel;

3. Vehicles traveling from West Kowloon Highway northbound to New Territories East must be diverted via Lin Cheung Road northbound, Mei Tsing Road westbound, Container Port South Road northbound, Ching Cheung Road eastbound, Lung Cheung Road eastbound and Tai Po Road northbound or Lion Rock Tunnel northbound; and

4. Vehicles traveling from the northbound of Lin Cheung Road to the east of the New Territories must be diverted via westbound Lai Po Road, westbound Hing Wah Street, northbound Container Port South Road, eastbound Ching Cheung Road, eastbound Lung Cheung Road and northbound Tai Po Road or Lion Rock Tunnel northbound.

The third phase

*The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 1:00 a.m. to about 11:00 a.m. on December 18, or until the end of the race:

road closure

1. Southbound Tsing Kwai Highway, southbound Cheung Tsing Tunnel and southbound Cheung Tsing Highway;

2. Southbound line of Ting Kau Bridge;

3. Exits from the Lantau Link to the southbound Changqing Highway;

4. The slip road leading from Tsing Yi South Bridge, Kwai Chung Road and Tsuen Wan Road to the southbound Tsing Kwai Highway;

5. Eastbound Tsing Sha Highway, eastbound Stonecutters Bridge and eastbound Nam Wan Tunnel between Cheung Tsing Tunnel Approach and West Kowloon Highway;

6. The slip road leading from Tsing Yi Hang Wan Road to the eastbound lane of the Stonecutters Island Bridge;

7. The slip road leading from Container Port South Road to the eastbound lane of Tsing Sha Highway (Stonecutters Island Viaduct); and

8. The slip road leading from Mei Tsing Road to the southbound West Kowloon Highway, except for vehicles leaving the container terminal via roundabout 6 towards Mei Tsing Road and Tsing Kwai Highway (New Territories direction).

1. Vehicles traveling along Tuen Mun Road and Tai Lam Tunnel to Kowloon must be diverted via Tuen Mun Road, Tsuen Wan Road, Kwai Chung Road, Cheung Sha Wan Road and Lai Chi Kok Road;

2. Vehicles traveling from Tsing Yi South to Kowloon must be diverted via Tsing Yi Road, Kwai Tsing Road, Kwai Tsing Interchange, Tsuen Wan Road, Kwai Chung Road, Cheung Sha Wan Road and Lai Chi Kok Road; and

3. Vehicles traveling from Kwai Chung Container Terminal to Kowloon must be diverted via Container Port South Road, Hing Wah Street West and Lai Po Road.

The above-mentioned road closure will not affect vehicles using the Western Submarine Tunnel to and from destinations such as the airport, Lantau Island, Ma Wan and New Territories West via Route 3 or Route 8 from Kowloon or New Territories East.

According to the website of the Cycling Festival, if the Stonecutters Bridge, Ting Kau Bridge and Tsing Ma Bridge record a wind speed of 35 kilometers per hour or above, the Cycling Association recommends that it is not suitable for cycling activities.
