In August, a fire broke out in an apartment building in Föching, killing a woman and a dog.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

However, the residents have long since received help - also from the victim fund.

Föching - Four months after the devastating fire in a residential and commercial building in Föching (we reported), the cause of the accident is still unclear: "The criminal investigation is ongoing," said Stefan Sonntag, press spokesman for the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria South, when asked.

However, one can rule out intentional arson.

It has also now been clarified that the 45-year-old woman and her dog, who lost their lives in the fire, died of smoke inhalation.

As reported, the fire broke out in the morning hours of August 26th in the converted service wing of a former agricultural property.

120 firefighters were deployed.

The residents of the apartment building lost all their belongings in the fire.

A family with two children and a young couple was helped with funds from the so-called victim fund (we reported).

The fund for the benefit of victims of crime and accidents was initiated in 1996 by our newspaper's "Readers help readers" campaign.

At that time, the amount donated was 49,000 euros.

In 2004 another 20,000 euros were paid in.

This is intended to give victims of crimes or accidents in the Miesbach district quick and unbureaucratic help.

The criminal police and the district office in Miesbach, which administers the fund, decide how it is to be used.

Manuela Schröck from the Miesbach Criminal Investigation Department says about the fund: “For us, this is a very good opportunity to think about the victims.

Unfortunately, there are not many offers of help in this direction.

And so you can at least give the victims a little financial support.”
