A deceleration in the inner city in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn would be desirable.

But there is still no patent solution as to how this should work.

Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn

– How do you get some of the motorized traffic out of Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn – for example to relieve the heavily frequented Bahnhofstrasse?

The council has been asking this question for years.

There is no solution yet, but now there are data and facts that could help in the decision-making process.

Traffic survey and forecast

The planning company Obermeyer Gruppe not only carried out a current traffic survey on behalf of the municipality, but also prepared a forecast for the year 2035.

And also examined how another bypass road in the south-east of the community would affect traffic.

"A 20 percent reduction in inner-city traffic would be possible," said engineer Helmuth Ammerl to local politicians during his presentation to the municipal council.

Still too many cars and trucks in the thoroughfares

The western bypass opened in 2009 has brought traffic relief to the district of Höhenkirchen.

Nevertheless, according to all factions, too many cars and trucks continue to roll through the thoroughfares.

The bottleneck in Bahnhofstrasse in particular, with its gated level crossing, is regularly overloaded.

Could a bypass that connects State Road 2078 and Egmatinger Strasse provide further relief?

When the municipality of Brunnthal had the expansion of the St 2078/Münchner Straße intersection examined with regard to a possible connection to the Ganserer site (see box), Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn seized the opportunity and gave the traffic planners additional orders.

The company analyzed the current traffic load in the town based on its own traffic counts at several junctions and the state traffic model of the Free State of Bavaria.

In one area of Bahnhofstrasse and Münchner Strasse, around 11,000 vehicles drive every 24 hours, as well as Hohenbrunner Strasse (approx. 8000 vehicles), Rosenheimer Strasse (approximately 8500 vehicles), Egmatinger Strasse (6700 vehicles) and Luitpoldstrasse ( almost 6000 vehicles) have to carry a lot of traffic.

Taking the population development into account, Ammerl forecasts an increase in traffic volume of ten or eleven percent for 2035.

For Bahnhofstrasse, this means an increase to over 12,000 vehicles per day.

Hohenbrunner Strasse (approx. 8,000 vehicles), Rosenheimer Strasse (approx. 8,500 vehicles), Egmatinger Strasse (6,700 vehicles) and Luitpoldstrasse (almost 6,000 vehicles) also have to deal with a lot of traffic.

New route attracts traffic

A south-east bypass could cushion the load here.

With the new bypass, Ammerl predicts only around 10,000 vehicles in Bahnhofstrasse by 2035.

But the new route also attracts traffic.

According to the forecast, 4,500 vehicles would be on the road every day on the south-east bypass, and 700 more vehicles would drive towards Siegertsbrunn from Egmating alone than if no bypass were built.

Possible consequences of the traffic turnaround disregarded

The Greens would have liked the possible consequences of the traffic turnaround to be taken into account when calculating the forecast.

Manfred Eberhard (UB) was disappointed by the relief that a south-east bypass would bring.

"Maybe it makes sense to look for another solution." Mayor Mindy Konwitschny (SPD) sees it similarly.

She asked the parliamentary groups to now deal with the figures presented.

They could be helpful when concretely addressing traffic planning in the foreseeable future.
