In the cathedral: Freising, the campus and the world of brewing say goodbye to Prof. Ludwig Narziss

During the requiem in the cathedral, the student associations paid their last respects to the deceased Prof. Ludwig Narziß with delegations of flags.

It was a tribute to one of the greats of the brewing world: the requiem for the recently deceased Prof. Ludwig Narziß took place in Freising Cathedral.

Freising

– delegations from the campus, from HSWT and TUM, the Weihenstephan State Brewery, the Brewers' Association, student associations and many other organizations filled the nave.

The solemn requiem for the recently deceased Professor Ludwig Narziß was celebrated by Dean Stephan Rauscher, the parish administrator of the St Korbinian parish association.

The appreciations

In addition to the appreciation of the scientific and brewing world, Mayor Tobias Eschenbacher, as head of the city, said goodbye to the well-deserved recipient of the Golden Citizen's Medal.

In his speech, Eschenbacher acknowledged, among other things, that thanks to the founding of the Technological Seminar for Brewing, hundreds of brewing experts from all over the world come to the campus in the cathedral city year after year to exchange ideas.

The scientific location of Freising and Weihenstephan has not least gained a worldwide reputation through the work and the outstanding personality of the Freisinger by choice Narziß.

In 1964, Ludwig Narziß was appointed Karl Schuster's successor to the Chair of Technology at Brewery 1 in Weihenstephan.

In 1992 he became emeritus.

In 2019, the Technical University of Munich awarded him an honorary doctorate - "in recognition of his outstanding scientific pioneering achievements, which have set international research standards in the field of brewing and beverage technology, and for his trend-setting textbooks and monographs on brewing technology".
