The case was judged in the District Court today (17th). The judge ruled that 10 people including Zhuang Zheng were convicted and 1 man was acquitted. The judge adjourned the case to January 7 next year for sentencing.


10 out of 11 defendants convicted

The 11 defendants include 8 men and 3 women, in order: Ouyang Haoming (25 years old, site foreman), Zhai Bolong (28 years old, photographer), Zhan Peilin (19 years old, student), Chen Sijin (18 years old, hair stylist) , Chen Zihong (21 years old, clerk), Zheng Taijun (25 years old, unemployed), Zhuang Zheng (28 years old, music teacher), Zhou Jiahui (19 years old, student), Zhou Nuocheng (19 years old, student), Jian Liran (24 years old Aged, music teacher) and Lai Zixin (aged 22, bar clerk), the charges allege that the defendants, together with other persons, participated in a riot.

Except for the defendant Chen Zihong, all the defendants were convicted.

Zhuang Zheng, one of the defendants, is a singer.

All 11 accused were arrested in the cordoned off area

The prosecution plan refers to the fact that when the police surrounded PolyU and confronted the demonstrators occupying the campus, many people gathered in Tsim Sha Tsui, Jordan, and Yau Ma Tei. 213 people were intercepted, including 11 accused.

The first defendant claimed to have been held down by the crowd

The crowd came and he became separated from his friends and was forced to fall and be pinned down by others.

Afterwards, firefighters helped to separate him from other people who were crushed. After he was rescued, police officers locked him with a rope and arrested him.
