Snow in the Russian capital, Moscow, caused the cancellation and delay of about 40 flights at many airports.
And the Novosti agency quoted data from the Yandex schedule service as saying: 17 flights were canceled, as well as another 20 flights were delayed at Moscow airports (Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo).
The scientific director of the Russian Meteorological Center, Roman Wielfand, said that the snow accumulations in Moscow reached a record level, equivalent to the level of 1941, due to heavy snowfall over the weekend, and expected an increase in snow accumulations.
In turn, Mikhail Leos, a worker at the Phobos Weather Center, indicated that the average snowfall in Moscow in December exceeded the known rates by 112 percent of the usual climatic rate.
