The Russian army claimed on Saturday that it had prevented a delivery of foreign weapons to Ukrainian forces, with massive strikes carried out the day before in Ukraine which caused power cuts across the country.

A massive strike with high-precision weapons was carried out on Friday, December 16 against military command systems, the military-industrial complex and energy sites of Ukraine
," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The objective has been achieved.
All designated sites have been targeted
,” according to the same source.
“
As a result of the strike, a delivery of foreign-made arms and ammunition was prevented, an advance of reserves (of Ukrainian forces) to combat areas was blocked, the operation of manufacturing and weapons repair (...) has been suspended
,” the statement said.
Ukraine announced on Friday that it had suffered new Russian missile strikes which caused water cuts in the capital kyiv and power across the country, plunged into freezing cold.
These attacks have been denounced as "
war crimes
" by the European Union.
