Sustainability is becoming more and more important to many people - also when planning their holidays.

A ranking shows which cities are a role model here.

Traveling was hardly possible during the corona pandemic - and nature had the opportunity to recover a little.

Now, however, most of the measures in the Federal Republic have been lifted and the Germans' desire to travel is greater than it has been for a long time.

If you don't want to miss out on vacation, but still want to pay attention to your ecological footprint, you can focus on cities that attach great importance to sustainability.

Sustainability is lived here: the greenest cities in Germany

Whether a city is sustainable or not depends not only on the number of green spaces and variety of plants.

The luxury travel provider

Club Med

included a wide range of aspects for an analysis, including air quality, water distribution, the number of cycle paths at city level and the number of vegetarian and vegan restaurants available.

The result: Freiburg im Breisgau is the most sustainable city in Germany.
