Accused of defrauding the elderly and fraudulently receiving over 4 million shekels:

The Central District Attorney's Office submitted to the Central District Court an indictment against Yevgeni Litinsky (40) of Petach Tikva.

The indictment submitted by lawyer Omri Gil indicates that between the months of May and November 2022, Litinsky and others, whose identity is unknown, located Russian-speaking victims throughout the country, mostly adults and elderly, collected information and personal details about them, and through them, created false representations that allowed them to fraudulently receive funds.

In order to carry out the method of operation, Litinsky and the others activated a technological array of laptops, cell phones and a device that serves as a "switchboard" that pretends the call is coming from a police station or a bank.

Thus, in a systematic way, they contacted the complainants posing as police officers, bank employees, credit companies and even Interpol officers, claiming that something was trying to steal money from their account.

In order to prevent the thieves from acting, and so that they could help them, the complainants had to take various actions of withdrawing funds from their accounts, and transferring them to another bank account that would be opened for them abroad, sometimes through change, or transfer large amounts of cash into their hands. The claim was that In a temporary expenditure intended to bring about the apprehension of the thieves, and that their money will be returned soon.

23 charges

To strengthen the credibility of the fraud, the complainants were told that the process was accompanied by the police, and a photo of a fake police ID was even sent.

In addition, the complainants were required not to report what was happening to the bank, the police or their family members in order not to harm the thieves' apprehension.

In some cases, Litinsky and the others went above and beyond when they signed and complained about a loan agreement in which the complainants state that they borrowed a sum of money from him and therefore they want to return it, and that they will not have any claim against him in the future.

As mentioned, the funds were transferred to Litinsky and the others through bank transfers to accounts abroad, checks, and cash given by the complainants, when in some cases they had to travel long distances at their own expense to hand over the cash or checks.

In the request for detention until the end of the proceedings filed by the lawyer Gil, he stated: "The evidence in the case shows the cruelty of the respondent and the others who harmed old and elderly people, inflicted heavy financial damages on them, and fraudulently took their savings, which were intended for saving for retirement, and made them take out loans that they would have to continue to pay the payments for them. Beyond the severe financial damage, the respondent and the others left the complainants hurt and mentally scarred."

The indictment lays out 23 charges and charges Litinsky with the offenses of conspiracy to commit a crime, fraudulent receipt under aggravated circumstances, impersonating a public servant, attempted fraudulent receipt under aggravated circumstances, fraudulent receipt, money laundering, operating with prohibited property, tax evasion or assistance after fraudulent tax evasion trickery and trickery.
