Twelve people were killed and dozens injured in a fuel tanker accident inside a tunnel, in Parwan province, eastern Afghanistan.
“At least 12 people were killed and 37 injured in the accident,” said the spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works in the Taliban government, Hamidullah Mesbah, according to Agence France-Presse, indicating that the death toll may rise.
Mosbah pointed out that a fuel tank overturned and caught fire inside the Salang Tunnel, and the fire spread to other cars.
In turn, the official in charge of health affairs in the state of Parwan, Abdullah Afghan Mal, announced that many women and children were among the dead, after suffering serious burns.
