Rashid bin Humaid: A development plan for the Emirate of Ajman for the next 30 years

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Head of the Municipality and Planning Department in the Emirate of Ajman, stated that the emirate's government has adopted a development plan for residential spaces allocated to citizens for the next 30 years.

He explained, in response to a question by Emirates Today, that His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, directed the re-planning of some old areas in the emirate, and the addition of modern areas to the plans, with the aim of providing the largest area of ​​​​land that can be used. In the construction of housing for the citizens of the state, whether through local housing projects in the emirate, or by allocating them to the federal government agencies responsible for this matter, such as the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program.

He pointed out that «the municipality currently relies on irrigating 30% of the green spaces cultivated in the emirate (public parks, or green spaces in the roads) on treated wastewater, and is working within a development plan to reach 100% to achieve the highest rate of rationalization of water consumption.

Last week, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Head of the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman, inaugurated the "Green Square" in the complex, in the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Program, Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad Belhaif Al Nuaimi.

The square came as a result of the program’s development of designs and mechanisms for the implementation of its residential complexes. It aims to provide a recreational space that encourages the residents of the complex to practice more sports and increase social cohesion between them, through the presence of areas that allow them to gather together, and constitute a safe place for children to play away from the dangers of public roads. Al Raqayeb, upon its completion, will include 11 green squares at a cost of four million dirhams, at a rate of approximately one square for every 17 housing units.

In detail, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid said, "The leaders and the government of the state put the happiness and well-being of citizens as a priority for permanent and constructive work, and are keen to provide them with family stability and the reunification of families in order to ensure a comfortable life." It is strong proof of the government's desire for our people to be the happiest people in the world.

He continued, "The green spaces project translates the comprehensive and sustainable vision that is keen on green and sustainable construction, which increases the green area in the emirate, which is a valuable resource and natural treasure for entertainment, a haven for rest and an outlet for families."

He directed to link the sports walkway, which the program is working on implementing in the Al-Raqayeb complex, with a length of three kilometers, with another sports walkway that will soon be opened in one of the public parks adjacent to the complex, in a way that increases the space allocated for sports.

For his part, the Minister of Infrastructure Development said, "The Green Square project aims to find places between the residences of the complex, which includes areas for neighbours' gathering, and recreational games next to their homes, away from the movement of cars, to develop and activate the social sense among the residents, and to enhance social cohesion between them," indicating "Green squares are a new concept in government housing, and it is an ambitious project that will contribute to creating a healthy environment for residents."

He explained that «the program will be implemented in the Al Raqayeb complex, 11 squares, which will be established and developed in cooperation with the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman, at a cost of four million dirhams, by allocating a square for each 17 residences, in addition to a three-kilometer walkway with the aim of encouraging families to walk and practice sports habits. health, and adopting sports as a way of life.

Al-Raqayeb complex includes 306 residences, built on an area of ​​502 square meters, at a cost of 350 million dirhams, and is expected to be delivered at the end of this year.

The complex received a two-pearl evaluation from the Abu Dhabi Council for Urban Planning, for meeting the requirements of the Estidama program criteria for the evaluation of pearl degrees for the design stage. The project is the first of its kind to receive a pearl rating outside the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
