36 years after Diego Maradona waved in Mexico, Lionel Messi scored in the final against France and is close to waving in Qatar.
Tens of thousands in Buenos Aires watch the game together against the Obelisk in Republic Square at noon, and millions throughout the country are waiting to go out to celebrate and many of them cried along with Angel Di Maria after the second goal in the final.
