German Foreign Minister: There is no hope for a quick truce in Ukraine
German Foreign Minister Analina Baerbock said she had no hope of a quick truce in Ukraine.
"No one but Russian President Vladimir Putin started this war, and if Putin wants, the war will end tomorrow," Birbock told the German weekly Bild am Sonntag in its Sunday edition.
The German minister added that the Russian president should issue an order only to withdraw the soldiers, but indicated that there are no sincere signs of this happening.
Berbock opposed a truce on Russian terms, explaining that such a step would not end "the horror of the citizens of Ukraine, but the opposite will happen."
Germany's foreign minister also said that the situation for Ukrainians in areas captured by Russian forces was worse. "Not only do they lack electricity and heat, but international aid supplies don't get there. Citizens live every day in fear," she said.
