Kylian Mbappé and France had the chance to claim a second straight World Cup gold, but the team lost the senseless final drama that was decided first on penalties.
Mbappé scored a final hat-trick and also opened the shootout with another goal, but had to settle for the silver.
The 23-year-old won the scoring league in the World Cup on eight goals, one more than Lionel Messi in the gold team Argentina.
