Three people have been killed as a result of a high wave that hit the coastal city of Durban in South Africa.
The Associated Press quoted the city's emergency medical services as saying in a statement that an exceptional wave had been reported that swept a group of beachgoers on the pier, causing three victims and 17 injuries.
The emergency services added that the injured were taken to hospitals for treatment, while more than 35 rescuers participated in the search and rescue operations launched by the Durban municipality.
