Uganda lifts lockdown measures imposed due to Ebola outbreak
Uganda canceled yesterday evening, Saturday, the closure measures imposed in two regions, which are the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak, which killed 56 people, after no transmission of infection was recorded in the country for at least five weeks.
And Bloomberg News reported that the office of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni said in an email on Saturday that the curfew had been lifted in the Mubindi and Kasanda regions.
The president said that at least 142 people have been infected with Ebola disease caused by the Sudan virus since the outbreak was declared last September, including 86 people who have recovered.
Uganda received the first batch of 1,200 doses of three vaccine candidates from the World Health Organization to counter this strain earlier this month, as Uganda prepares to start a vaccination campaign, according to the Ministry of Health.
