The Ben & Jerry's ice cream company submitted a request to retailers to increase the prices of ice creams by an average rate of about 10 percent.
If this price list is approved, ice cream prices will increase on January 1, 2023.
The background for the price increase is the increase in the prices of the raw materials for the ice creams, at a rate of 30-35 percent.
For example, the price of a liter of milk went up by 28 percent, a kilo of butter and cream by 31 percent, the cost of transporting the raw materials went up by 80 percent.
All these led to a 12 percent increase in the cost of the ice cream's raw materials.
The packaging is expected to become more expensive by 25 percent.

The price increases started in 2021 and strengthened in 2022.
In 2021 and at the beginning of 2022, the low dollar exchange rate somewhat slowed down the price increase.
On top of that, a lack of production workers resulted in a wage increase of 15% - 20%, and electricity and gas became more expensive.

It should be noted that the prices of ice creams in other companies are also more expensive now, as Unilever raised the prices of Strauss ice creams and Nestlé ice creams also became more expensive.
Shufersal recently announced a discount on more than 300 products for a period of six months.
One of the products is Ben & Jerry's ice creams that were reduced from NIS 19.9 to NIS 17.5.
Shufersel promised that even if the prices of these products go up, they will be offered at the cheaper price.
So even if the price list is approved, for half a year these products will be offered at the discounted price in Shufersal.
Victory and Rami Levy also announced that they would offer similar prices.
