If James Cameron was worried he wouldn't bring audiences back to theaters, his film raked in $435 million globally when it was released.

According to Variety, in North America alone, the feature film brought in $134 million.

It is the fifth best start of the year according to the publication, and the best of the weekend.

James Cameron had warned the public that it would be necessary to come to see his film en masse to know the continuation, planned on two next shutters.

Indeed, the filmmaker's projects are expensive.

La Voie de l'eau

cost 350 million dollars to produce, plus a few more millions to promote it.

Variety

recalls that James Cameron's films generally start quietly before becoming a hit over the long term.

Avatar
