A 20-year-old man who repeatedly stalked a 10-year-old child and his mother was sentenced to a suspended prison term.

On the 18th, Chuncheon District Court Criminal 2nd Criminal Judge Park Jin-young announced that he sentenced Mr. A (21), who was charged with violating the stalking punishment law, to 6 months in prison and 2 years probation.

He also ordered Mr. A to take probation and 40 hours of stalking crime recidivism prevention lectures.

From May 23rd to June 1st, Mr. A was put on trial for repeatedly stalking a 10-year-old child and his mother, Mr. B (29), on four occasions at an apartment, bus stop, etc. in Gangwon-do.

As a result of the investigation, Mr. A caused anxiety and fear with repeated stalking acts, such as following and talking to Mr. B with the victim moving to the school bus stop, water park, etc.

Mr. A's crime continued until the reported police arrived at the scene.

According to the indictment, Mr. B said, “Please don’t pretend to know me, it’s uncomfortable and I’m afraid of the child,” but Mr. A said, “Let’s raise a child and live with me. Are you?", "Let's go to a cafe with me", he said.

The judge pointed out, "The defendant's crime was not of good quality, such as causing the victims to feel considerable anxiety and fear, and he was not forgiven by the victims."

"However, the sentence was decided after comprehensively considering the fact that the defendant is reflecting on his crime, has no criminal history, and that the defendant's intellectual disability seems to have influenced the crime," he said.
