A man in his 70s, who was sentenced to probation for the attempted murder of his wife, was sentenced to prison for committing the same crime against his wife again.
The man claimed in court that he was intoxicated at the time, but the judge refused to accept it.
According to the legal community today (19th), the 22nd Criminal Division of the Cheongju District Court (Chief Judge Yoon Joong-ryeol) sentenced Mr. A, who was charged with attempted murder, to 6 years in prison.
Along with this, he was also ordered to attach a location tracking electronic device (electronic anklet) for 10 years and to prohibit contact and access to his wife, Mr. B.
Mr. A is accused of stabbing and injuring his wife B with a weapon in the kitchen while drinking alcohol at her home in Jincheon, Chungcheongbuk-do on August 12.
In addition, on July 12, 2019, Mr. A was sentenced to 3 years in prison and 5 years probation for wielding a weapon during an argument with Mr. B.
During the trial, Mr. A claimed that he was intoxicated and mentally and physically weak at the time of the crime.
Judge Ha Ji-pan said, "Looking at the fact that he committed the same crime during the probation period, it seems that he has a habit of murdering his wife." no,” he pointed out.
