This December 20 will be a holiday in Argentina to celebrate the triumph of the soccer team in the Qatar World Cup, this was confirmed to CNN by two officials from the Argentine presidency.
The team will arrive in the country at dawn on Tuesday.
President Alberto Fernández decreed the national holiday for the festivities, confirmed the state agency Télam.
The team —including the soccer players, the coaching staff and the World Cup— will travel from Ezeiza —a town in the province of Buenos Aires, where the airport and the headquarters of the Argentine Soccer Association are located— to the Obelisk in the center of Buenos Aires, reported Télam.
Fernández made that decision through a Decree of Necessity.
There are exceptions for the Federal Administration of Public Revenues and for banks, which will work until 12 noon, the Government reported to Télam.
The Argentina team beat France on penalties in the 2022 Qatar World Cup final in an epic match that ended tied 3-3.
Lionel Messi, leader of the team, scored two goals and broke several records during the tournament.
