The swimming pool of Saint-Junien (Haute-Vienne) will no longer welcome the public from this Monday.
The establishment will indeed be closed for three weeks from this date, reports France 3 Nouvelle Aquitaine.
Bathers will be welcome again on January 9, 2023. The objective of this measure is to save 40,000 euros in the face of rising energy prices.
The break will also be used to drain the pool.
The soaring gas and electricity prices had already prompted the managers of the aqua-recreational center to lower the water temperature by 1°C, and to close the sauna and the hammam.
However, faced with the 7-fold increase in the amount of invoices, other solutions had to be found.
The energy budget had indeed increased from 100,000 to 700,000 euros.
Among the people frequenting the swimming pool, some were understanding.
Others, who had not been informed of the closure, however deplored the lack of communication from the management of the establishment.
